The Sparks resident competes Saturday on the floor, rings at vault at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Men s qualifying begins at 3:30 p.m. local time (7:30 a.m. in Reno) at the North Greenwich Arena.
I m sure I m going to feel the pressure when we compete, the Spanish Springs graduate said. But I m just ready to get out there. I think we all feel comfortable with the equipment now, we know what to expect.
Olympic gymnastics has four phases.
The first is today s qualification. The top eight teams, top 24 all-around individuals (a maximum of two per team) and top eight individuals on each apparatus advance to the next phase.
The U.S. is expected to move on to the finals of the team competition on Monday.
Dalton is the U.S. team s best individual medal hope on the floor and the vault.
The U.S. team includes Dalton, Jonathan Horton, Danell Leyva, Sam Mikulak and John Orozco.
